The long-awaited second trailer for Grand Theft Auto V was released today by Rockstar, and it shows off the new California-like setting along with jets, car chases, and the usual eccentric characters the series is known for.
It looks like Rockstar is getting a bit closer to what we saw in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. They dropped some of the oddities for a slightly more realistic approach in Grand Theft Auto IV (and I emphasize “slightly”), a change that had some fans feeling boxed in compared to the freedom of San Andreas.
It also looks like Rockstar is putting more work into characters with more depth. And it looks like missions are getting a nice cinematic touch.
For those somewhat confused about Grand Theft Auto history (this is technically Grand Theft Auto VII), there was Grand Theft Auto 1 and 2, and the London 1969 expansion pack on the PSone; then there was Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas on the PS2; then Grand Theft Auto IV and its two expansion packs, The Lost and Damned, and The Ballad of Gay Tony on the PS3. There were also three on the PSP, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, Chinatown Wars, and Vice City Stories.
And with that said, Grand Theft Auto V is set for an only slightly vague release in Spring 2013.
